Trustee-reviewed Grants

Applications Due:
March 15, June 15, September 15, December 15

Amount Awarded:
Over $50,000

A minimum of 60 percent of grant funds are awarded to the Foundation's home communities in the Grand Rapids/Itasca County, Minn., area, including the communities of Blackduck, Hill City, Northome, and Remer.

Outside of the Foundation’s home giving area, grants are focused on fewer, high-impact awards to projects with the potential to establish models that can be emulated by other communities. Preference will be given to communities that have participated in a Blandin Foundation community leadership program.

$10,001 - $50,000

These grants provide a more nimble response to project-based initiatives by simplifying the application and reporting process. Larger grants in this category may be recommended for trustee review.

Proposed projects must fit within the same guidelines as Blandin Foundation trustee-reviewed grants. Response in approximately 30 days.

These grants provide a more nimble response to project-based initiatives by simplifying the application and reporting process.

Up to $5,000

Graduates of Blandin's community leadership programs (BCLP, BRCLP, LPEP, LEDC, ACE) may apply for these funds to assist with projects to plan for a vibrant future for their communities. Previously these grants were called Rural Quick Start grants. Response in approximately 30 days.

Four programs available for advancing community awareness, business and residential use, and public and private investment in rural broadband capacity. Details on the Broadband Programs page.

Donations are available to qualified nonprofits in our home communities with a 501(c)3 status for projects that meet an emerging need. Limited to one per organization per calendar year.
